Byodoin Temple

|

I stopped off in Uji for Ukai (which was actually cancelled that day) but I thought as I was there I’d check out the temple. I’d read online you could see it from a park which wasn’t the case – you could glance it over trees but not get a proper view. I bought a ticket for admission which was 600 yen and it felt worthwhile despite being a little templed out from Kyoto.

The Byodoin temple was a large structure, mainly painted red that sat on a mini lake providing a lovely reflection. It wasn’t too busy inside and I had a decent wander around; unfortunately I got there a little too late for the museum though which shut at 5 although you were allowed to visit the temple until 5:30.
