I visited a set of gardens in Nara which I think were the Yoshiki-en gardens. I reached the area where they should be and there was an entrance offering free entry to foreign visitors to look around. The gardens were incredibly peaceful to visit and must have taken some maintaining!
Next door there was another building with it’s own gardens too which is why I wasn’t 100% sure – the other building was charging admission but I felt that it could be a museum/temple instead.
