My first year in Australia there wasn’t much news around forest fires so I assume there weren’t many but in 2019 it’s seemed like a very different story and over the last few months there have been a lot of fires burning surrounding Sydney and Australia as a whole.
Whilst most days aren’t very different, some have smelt of bonfires in the morning and one day in particular was so bad you couldn’t see over a hundred meters and when going outside, it was very close and claustrophobically hot.
On visiting the beaches I noticed some ash in the water and where I thought someone must have had a bonfire on the beach it turned out it was from the fires!
It’s Christmas now and there have been some record breaking hot days in the last couple of weeks and no sign of the fire’s letting up anytime soon.
