The rain kept coming down in showers on my first day in Takayama and that made the Higashiyama Walk a little less enjoyable. I learnt I needed an umbrella rather than my jacket too!
The Higashiyama Walk was a little route through and around the town which took you past the local temples, to see a graveyard and then around to the park. It was a nice way to explore and I saw some interesting sights like a couple of chaps grooming a tree with scissors!
When I reached Shiroyama park, unfortunately it was closed due to bears which had been sighted there. It had been one of the main things I’d gone on the walk for which was a shame but best to be safe than sorry especially if there had been enough sightings to close the park so I headed back to the hostel after this.
